Not only is computer coding for kids is vital to success in the technology-driven economy of the 21st century, but it can teach kids a broad range of skills that will help them in countless other areas as well. Ultimate Coders incorporate Scratch, Python, Robotics, Arduino, HTML5, CSS, JavaScript and Math — making connections that go beyond the classroom. What are we looking for?
As a Volunteer Coding Camp Instructor, you will play a key role in delivering our coding camps to young learners. This hands-on position involves assisting with the planning, preparation, and facilitation of coding activities and projects. You will work closely with our experienced instructors to create a supportive and dynamic learning environment that encourages creativity, collaboration, and problem-solving.
Responsibilities include:
- Assist in planning and organizing coding camp curriculum and activities.
- Support lead instructors in delivering lessons and guiding students through coding projects.
- Provide one-on-one assistance and mentoring to camp participants as needed.
- Help set up and maintain coding equipment and software.
- Supervise students during camp sessions and ensure a safe and inclusive learning environment.
- Collaborate with other team members to continuously improve camp content and delivery methods.
- Assist with administrative tasks such as attendance tracking and parent communication.
Required Skills
- Currently enrolled in a relevant degree program (e.g., Computer Science, Education, STEM).
- Strong programming skills in languages such as Scratch, Python, Robotics, HTML, CSS or JavaScript.
- Passion for coding education and working with children and teenagers.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Previous experience working with youth or teaching experience is a plus.
- Available to commit to the duration of the coding camps (dates may vary).
